Fenty Beauty First Impressions

I bloody love living in Canada - I have a Sephora literally 15 minutes away from my house, which for someone from the UK is freaking great (although maybe not so much for my bank account!). When I spotted that the Fenty Beauty collection was coming out last Friday and my classes got cancelled, I praised the make up gods and rushed down to Bloor St (the Toronto version of Fifth Avenue!) and freaked out like the rest of the shoppers! They had already sold out of the KillaWatt highlighter - although I'm not sure gold glitter on my cheeks is my vibe - but I perused the collection for a fair amount of time and settled on two Match Stix's/stixes? Who knows what the plural is...

The packaging is a beautiful nude blush pink shade that I - along with the rest of the internet it seems - friggin' LOVE. It's pretty light weight, which is good for someone like me who is going to be weight conscious when it comes to buying things over here, but also doesn't seem like it's going to break easily (which is what you'd expect for the price tag!). The best thing about it, is the magnetic strip in the packaging which means that they can fit together, which I think is a great idea and not at all gimmicky, unlike some people I've seen.
After much deliberation, I went for Amber (the contour shade) and Confetti (one of the cream highlighters). Whilst I think that the trio would have been great value (trust me I was tempted!), the Starstruck shade reminded me too much of my Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter, which I couldn't live without, so I decided I needed to get a highlighter unlike anything else I had.

Amber (Match Stix Matte Skinstick) is the PERFECT contour shade for me, it's not too warm so is great for getting a more chiseled look and isn't too dark that I look muddy or just plain ridiculous! It blends out beautifully as it feels so creamy and is definitely going to be my go to for contour (and I didn't think I'd ever say that about a cream contour stick as I love a powder!)

Confetti (Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick) is the most gorgeous frosted pink, holographic disco ball shade that looks beautiful on my paler complexion and is going to be perfect for the winter months. However, I did find that this wasn't as blendable and felt a lot drier, but I think that's due to the glitter in it! The great thing about this though is that you can build it up (although it takes a knack to not move your base make up underneath!) so you can wear it for when you want a subtle glow or a huge POP of slaying highlight. Trust me, people will notice it either way, too!

My overall thoughts on the brand are hugely positive - Rihanna, girl, you pulled it out of the bag! I think the fact that she's bought out so many shades of foundation (and a lot of the darker shades were sold out by the time I got to Sephora!!) is incredible and I can't wait to see what else she adds to the collection. For now I'm adding the primer and maybe one of the brushes to my wishlist - I want a whole honeycomb effect of these products!!

In the UK you can get it from Harvey Nichols here & US/Canada from Sephora here! Have you tried any of the Fenty Beauty bits yet - let me know your thoughts?!
Have a great week!
Becky xx
