Review: Maybelline's Baby Lips Dr Rescue

Oh boy, this is going to be the week of posts from reviews, to blogger awards and styling challenges, purely because I have so many exciting things to tell you about and I just want to see if I can do a post everyday! What better way to kick things off than with a review of a new lip product...

When a small parcel popped through my letter box last weekend addressed to me, I got a little bit excited! Product Testing UK have chosen me as one of their Beauty bloggers (visit their Facebook page here) and thus kindly sent me the new Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue* in Just Peachy. Now I'm a fan of tinted lip balms as it's an easy way to wear a bit of colour, even when your lips are in need of a bit of TLC. My favourites for this are normally the Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya and the Vaseline Rosy Lips Lip Therapy Stick, both of which aren't particularly expensive and do wonders for your lips.

At £3.49 (pipping both of the afore mentioned to the post price wise!)this is a great product for several reasons. Whilst I found that the "8 hour moisturising" aspect of the product wasn't particularly accurate, it made my lips feel conditioned and nourished; although if your lips are super dry from all of this cold weather, I'd be warned as the colour did get patchy around flakey areas (these have vanished since I've been using this, though!)

The colour is a super lovely peach pink that, as you can see in the first picture, is an excellent everyday shade, that I'm absolutely in love with when I opt for minimal make up. It's not quite as orange toned as my Rimmel Lip Butter and so it doesn't wash me out in similar way when I don't have a tan - perfect for this time of year! The smell of the shea butter, menthol and eucalyptus reminds me of fancy skincare products mixed with cough drops, so if that's not your thing beware; however I absolutely love it!

Whilst the packaging may not be my favourite thing in the world, what counts is the product inside, right?! I would definitely recommend this as something for people who love the sensation of tingling lips (my favourite thing about the product) and are a lip balm fiend like me, yet get bored of their own lip colour!

Let me know if you like using lip balms that are tinted to actually add some colour, as I know that I will continue to use this even if it is purely for the look it gives! See you tomorrow for another post...

  1. Does it leave any colour on your lips, or is it clear? And thanks Becky, I loved your review!

    1. It does, yes! It's a pretty peach/pink, although it does clump a little if your lips are super dry! Thank you :)
