Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan Review

If like me you struggle from MBLS (milk bottle legs syndrome), then you'll understand where I'm coming from when I say I'm fed up of having reflective white legs! Ever since I made this decision (about a month ago!), I've been on the hunt for a new, good (yet cheap) fake tan. Last year I sufficed with the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Tan lotion -  basically a gradual tinted moisturiser, which if I'm being honest did the job, BUT I cannot stand the smell and it was a bit extreme; white and doing nothing at all or all of the sudden I seemed to be channelling a tangerine!

My Mum then bought (thanks to a recommendation from Marie Claire Magazine) the Garnier Ambre Solair "No Streaks Bronzer" mousse, which I liked a lot... the only downside was that the pump broke and almost ruined our bathroom walls on the first application! (I did tweet them, but haven't heard back!)

So after reading a few reviews of the Rimmel range for summer and seeing Anna from Viviannadoesmakeup (blog here, YouTube here), I persuaded mum to buy the "Sunshimmer Instant Tan Medium Matte". And oh, are we impressed!

We opted for the medium matte, as the light formula did nothing to our hands in the shop... plus we didn't go for the water resistant one just because I was a bit dubious (and frankly a little scared - I mean look how dark it is in the tube!) about how good the product really was. *Funny story: the first time I tried this, I read the "wash off" part as an instruction and was super disappointed with this, until I realised the washing off was to actually get rid of the tan. A typical Becky thing to do.*

This gives a pretty much perfect colour , I compared it to my natural tan on my arms and the colour is a seriously close match! What's more, it was only one application. It doesn't give the streaky look, although you need to work quickly to avoid patches: you can see on the picture below where I left the product on my skin before rubbing it in for too long. I've used both a mitt and my hands, and both gave great results, although you have to be careful about not staining your hands!

The only other down side I can think of is that it does wear off when you wear shoes, so I have some lovely white toes in the outline my ballet pumps; however, at the price point it's at and the quality it gives (with a decently pleasant smell, I might add) I think I may be able to live with it, especially as I will rarely be wearing open toed shoes for now!

All in all, if you want a perfect, streak free tan that is easy and quick to apply (remember one application is all I needed!) and does not have the horrendous "biscuit" smell that come with other fake tanning products, this is definitely a good one to try! Plus it's only £6.99... ABSOLUTE BARGAIN in my opinion!

Sorry for the delay of this post, had an absolutely manic evening last night! While you're here, don't forget to enter my MAC eyeshadow giveaway here! Have a great rest of the week...

Becky xx
