e.l.f. haul and first impressions

If like me, you can't deny a bargain then you'll understand why I didn't pass up the e.l.f 50% off flash sale.

Instead of just showing you what I bought, I thought I'd give them a try, write down my initial impressions and put the final look I created at the end!

Here's what I bought:

The first thing I used was the eye refresh; this claims to be cooling and refreshing, which it certainly is. I loved the packaging and the applicator was easy to use, though I obviously can't comment on puffiness/dark circles as I haven't given it enough tries!

I then used my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, Collection concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte powder (as per my everyday make up routine here!), the latter of which I applied using the powder brush: I found this was super soft and perfect size.

For my eyes I used the eyelid primer, which smells a bit odd and the packaging isn't as professional-looking as all of the other products I got, but gives a good colour base for the eyelids. This was probably my most disappointing product of the batch!

Over the primer I used the Jumbo eyeshadow stick in French Lace, which is a lovely champagne, peachy colour although I warn you now, it is incredibly sparkly. It was easy to apply: I just put a bit all over the lid and blended out using the eye crease brush. This brush was a little more disappointing as some bristles fell out and it felt scratchy, though it does blend well (I've tried it with powder eyeshadow too and it gave a nice effect!)

For my brows I used the eyebrow kit, and although the shade was pretty perfect for my eyebrows, I often don't do mine so I think this kit was a little too dramatic for what I usually go for in terms of make up. I think the kit is a perfect size as it's very compact and would be great for travelling! I set them with the clear brow gel and mascara, which although felt a little wet and a bit sticky for a while, it holds the brows in place well!

To add a bit of colour back I used the Cool Bronzer and as it's matte I bought it for contouring in particular, although it is slightly orange, which is a shame: I used my Real Techniques contour brush to apply this in the hollows of my cheeks. I then used the pink blush shade from the bronzer palette on the apples of my cheeks and the MUA Shimmer highlight powder on my cheek bones using the blush brush, which is my favourite of the 3 brushes I bought!

To finish off the look, I added a coral lip stain (I think the brand is Rival de Loop) I bought in Germany and then some lip balm over the top to finish off the look.

Have a great weekend, there will be a may favourites coming your way soon!
Becky xx
