Home made lip scrub

Happy New Year!

The weather here is cold and wet (still not very welcoming unfortunately) and in the past few days my lips had become incredibly dry and flaky so I needed a remedy fast.

As some of you may be aware, I went to Mongolia last summer and had the most amazing time; one of the only issues was that we all seriously suffered from the same problem I was having last week, again due to the weather.

Normal lip balm wasn't quite doing the trick and then suddenly I remembered about a lip scrub that I'd made previously and quickly rustled one up, because fortunately none of the ingredients are out of the ordinary, and it really did save us -  even the boys loved it!

It's honestly the simplest 'recipe' ever but it truly does work.I can't remember where I found it - I think I mixed up a couple I'd found previously online.

You will need:
Sugar (preferably a soft one such as brown muscovado sugar as hard sugar was painful to use at times)
Honey
Bowl/ pot to mix the two together in
Spoon
Your preferred lip balm

Mix equal amounts of sugar with the honey and mix to make a paste in the bowl/pot (add more of either if needed). Scrub onto lips using your finger for about a minute to get rid of all the flaky dead skin, leave for a minute then lick/wipe the scrub off (it tastes delicious). Put on some lip balm and you will have smooth lips that should be back on their way to recovery!

If you have any left you can store it in a container for a week or so which is handy during the winter months as I can then use it once a week to keep my lips from chapping again.

I can't believe I forgot about this and it was only because I met up with some of the people I went to Mongolia with recently that I remembered again. I hope this solves your chappedness (I don't think that's a word, but oh well!)

Here's to a fantastic 2014!
